How to register as a supplier with NPPA in Sierra Leone

15 Oct 2026

If you want to sell goods, services or works to the Government of Sierra Leone, you need to be registered with the National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA). Since January 2026, registration is done online only, through the NPPA e-Government Procurement portal (Salone eGP). This guide walks you through it step by step.

Why registration matters

The NPPA has made it clear: only suppliers, contractors and consultants that are registered and validly listed on the e-GP portal can take part in public procurement. Many tender notices now ask for your NPPA Supplier Registration Certificate (or proof that you have applied) as part of your bid. If you are not registered, your bid can be marked down or rejected.

Before you start: what you need

Have these ready as scanned PDF files:

  • Business registration certificate — from the Corporate Affairs Commission (for companies) or the Office of the Administrator and Registrar General (for registered business names)
  • NRA Tax Clearance Certificate (and your TIN)
  • NASSIT Clearance Certificate (and your NASSIT number)
  • Local Council business licence, where it applies to your business
  • Power of Attorney — authorising the person who is registering on behalf of the business
  • Details of your bank account, your owners/shareholders (beneficial ownership), number of employees, and 1–3 contact persons

You will also need a working email address and mobile number.

The registration fee

When the portal launched, the NPPA announced a registration fee of Le 1,000 for national businesses and US$200 for foreign businesses. The portal generates payment instructions for you; you pay at the bank and upload the bank slip. Adding more categories (Goods, Services, Works) does not change the fee. Always confirm the current amount on the portal before paying.

Step-by-step: registering on Salone eGP

1. Create your account Go to egp.nppa.gov.sl and click Sign Up. Enter your name, mobile number, email and a password. You will receive a one-time code (OTP) by email — check your spam folder if it does not arrive. Enter the code, then set three security questions.

2. Start a new supplier registration Log in, open My Workspace and choose New Supplier Registration. Select National (Sierra Leonean business) or Foreign, enter your basic details and upload the Power of Attorney.

3. Complete your company profile Fill in your business address (region, district, phone), contact persons, business size (capital and number of employees), beneficial owners (shares must add up to 100%) and your bank account.

4. Choose what you supply Select one or more categories — Goods, Services or Works — and your line of business. If you were registered with NPPA before, enter your old certificate details.

5. Pay and upload the bank slip Print the payment instructions, pay at the bank, then enter the transaction date and number and upload the slip as a PDF.

6. Upload your documents Upload each required document as a PDF and use Preview to check it is clear and complete. The portal will not let you submit if a mandatory document is missing.

7. Review and submit Check every section carefully, then submit. Once the NPPA approves your registration, you can download your registration certificate from My Company.

Renew every year

NPPA registration certificates run from 1 January to 31 December. You must renew each year through the same portal, so put a reminder in your calendar for December. Keep your tax and NASSIT clearances up to date too — expired clearances are one of the most common reasons bids are rejected.

Tips to avoid delays

  • Scan documents clearly, in colour, one document per PDF.
  • Make sure the business name is spelled exactly the same on every document.
  • Check that your tax and NASSIT clearances are still valid before uploading.
  • Register early — do not wait until you see a tender you want to bid for.
